A life in Art

The Missouri Art Council in the past few weeks has made an attempt to keep some sanity in the state of Missouri.  This has proven to be extremely difficult do to the insane people who work in Jefferson city.  What is there main problem?  It has come to their attention that a Life without art is not only viable but a perfect fit for the state of Missouri.

This is a truck load of Horse%&#$.  Fresh to boot.

The idea that a human can live without expression has already been destroyed.  We have the results of such programs like ART SAVES LIVES, which brought the elderly a new form of existence.  We have the ARTSEDGE school program from the VSA, which helps kids find confidence and unity with others through art.

Why then do we have these discussions about cost? 

Art programs are always the first cut by politicians.  Not their salaries.  Not their benefits.  They serve the people by serving themselves.  Government is for all people.  Government is for a beginning.  And every child in America should be given the right to express and evolve with confidence and unity.  This cannot be achieved by shouting about cost, rather, talking about the cost of not doing it.

Take away painting, theatre, music, and writing.  Replace with political corruption, nepotism, and back room games of power and more power.

If America cannot offer a child this beginning without condition or reward for the political machine, then it is time to hang out the sign and tell the passers-by we are still in business, but we are all out of heart.
