As summer nears the end and fall creeps into the coolness, we find oppurtnities abound for art.
Capital Arts helps connect you to the arts festival by introducing the Chalk art during the four day festival. It will take place on Saturday September 10 at the Memorial park. You get a 4' x 6' area to chalk down your artist side. You get until 6pm to finish. Winners get cash prizes per category and will be notified through email or phone. It will also be posted in the news tribune. Help art in Jefferson city.
In Columbia, the next show is Hint Fiction. The reception already took place, but the show will remain open until October 1. The Columbia art league is located at 207 S. 9th street in Columbia. Their new web address is http://www.columbiaartleague.org/.
Also in Columbia, their annual fundraising "Betty Brown tea" will be held on September 13, 3-5 pm at the University club in the Donald W. Reynolds Alumni Center. Tickets cost 25.00 and go to help the art league with their Art-reach program for children that don't have access to the arts. Another great way to serve the arts in Mid Missouri.
The 52 Annual boone county art show is happenning on October 8 and 9 at the Boone county National Bank. It is with the Artrageous Weekend which runs October 7 - 9 in columbia. Go the the art league's website to get more details and the application form to enter.
Finally, again in Jefferson city, on Saturday September 17 at 7:30 pm, there will be a three prong performance extravangaza featuring Vocal Spectrum, the Show-Me Showboaters chorus and Quartets, and the Jefferson city HS Chorale and Quartets. The show is free, but does take donations that will benefit the Jefferson city HS and the Helias Catholic HS Music scholarship programs.
Plenty to do in the coming weeks. I hope all of you enjoy the arts and celebrate them with friends and family.
