It's
Not the Heat, It's the Humidity is an all-media, all-content, all-styles
exhibition. This is a national call for entries.

Exhibition Juror: Paula Katz
|
|
Paula
Katz is the Director and
Curator of the Herron Galleries at the Herron School of
Art and Design in Indianapolis, Indiana. Paula moved to
Indianapolis from Columbus, Georgia where she oversaw a diverse
contemporary art exhibition program as Assistant Curator of Art at the
Columbus Museum.
Originally
from Andover, Massachusetts, Paula graduated cum laude from Tulane
University where she majored in Art History. She completed her master's
degree in History of Art and Connoisseurship in Modern and Contemporary
Art and Design through the University of Glasgow's Christie's Education
London program where she specialized in photography and video.
Paula
has curated a number of exhibitions in a variety of media including: Missed
Connections, Hokin Gallery, Columbia College Chicago in Chicago
Illinois; Thornton Dial: Works on Paper, 1991-2000, Columbus
Museum, Columbus, Georgia; Rooms for Tourists, Biggen, Auburn
University, Auburn, Alabama, Between History and Memory, Eleanor
Prest Reese and Robert B. Berkshire Galleries, Herron School of Art and
Design.
Paula
is currently working on a variety of projects, including I Heard it
on NPR, which will be presented at the Herron School of Art and
Design during the 2012-13 exhibition season.

Submissions
|
|
Three
entries per artist may be submitted.
CD
submissions must be dropped off at the St. Louis Artists' Guild by 5:00
pm on April 26, or, if mailed, submissions must be
postmarked on or before April 26, 2013. Online submissions
must be completed by 11:59 pm on April 26, 2013.
The
St. Louis Artists' Guild will not check files for you - it is the
artists' responsibility to submit readable files. Blank CDs or
unreadable/corrupted files will not be accepted for jurying.

Exhibition Timeline
|
|
- April 26, 2013: CD and online
submissions due (must be postmarked on or before this date).
- May 10: Artists notified by
this date.
- May 13: Artists can begin
delivering or shipping work. Open hours are 10am-5pm Monday
through Friday, 12pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
- May 26: Deadline for delivering
work to the gallery.
- Friday, June 7,
6pm-8:30pm:
Opening Reception.
- August 4: Exhibition closes.
- Monday, August 5: Artwork retrieval and
shipping begins during regular office hours (Monday-Friday,
10am-5pm).
Exhibited artwork cannot be
removed from the gallery until August 5, 2013. All hand-delivered works
must be retrieved from the St. Louis Artists' Guild's galleries (or the
artist must make arrangements with the Gallery Director to retrieve the
work) by September 2, 2013, or else the work will become the property
of the St. Louis Artists' Guild.
Shipped work will be
returned within 30 days of the end of the exhibition.
All correspondence
concerning acceptance or non-acceptance of artwork will be done via
email.

Entry Procedures
|
|
Artists
have two options for submitting their work:
CD Submission:
Each
artist may submit up to three entries. Submissions should be 150 dpi
jpeg images on a CD, image proportions maximum 5" x 7". Title
your image as follows: Lastname_Firstname_1.jpg and so on 3D Artwork: 2
views of the work may be submitted. Label as follows:
Lastname_Firstname_1A.jpg and 1B. Write name, phone number, and email
address on a CD. CDs will not be returned. The St. Louis Artists' Guild
is not responsible for the loss or damage of any submitted materials.
Blank CDs or corrupted image files are automatically rejected. Include
a typed and printed image list with title, media, dimensions, price and
year for each piece, and your contact information (name, address, phone
number, email). One your image list, please identify each image as jpeg
#1, 2, 3 (corresponding to file names).
Online
Submission:
Go
to the webpage for the It's Not the Heat, It's the Humidity

and follow the instructions on the website. Each artist may submit up
to three entries. Submissions should be 150 dpi jpeg images, image
proportions maximum 5" x 7". Title your image as follows:
Lastname_Firstname_1.jpg and so on. Yoi will receive confirmation emails
when we receive your entries and entry fees.

Entry Fees
|
|
St.
Louis Artists' Guild members may submit up to three pieces for a
non-refundable fee of $7 per entry. Non-members may submit up to three
entries for a non-refundable fee of $35 total. Please make checks
payable to the St. Louis Artists' Guild.
Special
Membership Offer:
Those who purchase a new Guild membership at $65 or higher will have
their entry fees for Its Not the Heat, It's the Humidity
waived.

Commissions
|
|
Sales
are encouraged. The St. Louis Artists' Guild receives a 35% commission
on all works sold from this exhibition.
|

prizes will be awarded by the juror.

Location
|
|
Artists
are responsible for shipping of artwork to and from the St. Louis
Artists' Guild, Two Oak Knoll Park, St. Louis MO 63105. Artists must
use a level of shipping that common carriers will pick up from the
facility. The St. Louis Artists' Guild will not take packages to
drop-off locations. Artists must provide proper documentation for
prepaid return shipping, otherwise the artwork becomes the property of
the St. Louis Artists' Guild.

Artwork Requirements
|
|
Artwork
must meet these requirements:
- Artist must be at least
18 years of age.
- Up to three entries may
be submitted.
- Completed within the
last two years.
- Not shown previously in
the St. Louis Artists' Guild's galleries.
- Works should be priced
and marked for sale or not for sale (NFS).
- 2-D: Shall not exceed
image size of 72" h x 84" w and 30 lbs. Diptychs and
triptychs which exceed maximum size limitations for a single entry
will be considered as two or three entries depending on total
size.
- Hanging work should
have wire and screw eyes, French cleats, or other professional
hanging devices. No saw-tooth hangers. No clip frames.
- Canvases must be framed
or gallery-wrapped.
- 3-D: Must not exceed
85" h x 35" w x 50" d and 100 lbs.
- Installations will be
considered with detailed instructions.
- Video and other works
that require electricity: Artist must provide cords, projectors,
and any/all equipment needed to display work.
- The St. Louis Artists'
Guild has the right to reject any work that is unstable, unusually
fragile, or does not meet the above requirements.
