Tea Time in Columbia, Missouri

I am going to repost a message from Diana Moxon of the Columbia Art League.  It is a great organization and Diana is a champion for the arts.  I hope you will give this a chance because it will become a wonderful experience for you year after year.

I'm English so I'm biased, BUT I love a good afternoon tea! Melt in your mouth sandwiches, fluffy scones with cream and jam, chocolately cakes, buttery pastries and a good cup of tea. It's a perfect afternoon.

Of course a view of a quaint Devon town is a bonus, but from here in mid-Missouri, I fully endorse a view out over the south quadrangle from the Great Room at the University Club.

Next Thursday, September 20th, we'll be throwing our annual Afternoon Tea party at the University Club from 3-5pm. Not only is it a chance to indulge in Columbia's best afternoon tea, but also to open your hat box and break out the feathers. We've got a fabulous milliner joining us from St. Louis, Miriam Wiegand, plus a display of hats from Stephens College's Vintage Wearables collection and displays of CAL artworks.

So, please come for tea! You can reserve your place and pay via the CAL website, right here! Or just give me a call on 573 443 8838. Tickets cost $30 per person, with all proceeds benefitting CAL's programs, which means it's also tax deductible and that makes those cakes even tastier! RSVP's required by Wednesday at 12pm.

Hoping to see you next Thursday!

- Diana

"Those dripping crumpets, I can see them now. Tiny crisp wedges of toast, and piping-hot, flaky scones. Sandwiches of unknown nature, mysteriously flavoured and quite delectable, and that very special gingerbread. Angel cake, that melted in the mouth, and his rather stodgier companion, bursting with peel and raisins." Daphne du Maurier, 'Rebecca'
