The Missouri State Museum is inviting guests to hear renowned Missouri artist Bryan Haynes discuss his process and work. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will be 1 p.m., Friday, July 31 at Elizabeth Rozier Gallery.
Haynes’ style recalls Thomas Hart Benton by capturing the breathtaking beauty of Missouri’s landscape and residents. Visitors will learn how he blends history, local lore, illustration and fine art to create the works on display at the Elizabeth Rozier Gallery. An artist reception will follow immediately in the Elizabeth Rozier Gallery, allowing guests to meet the artist and see the exhibition, "New Regionalism: The Art of Bryan Haynes."
Bryan Haynes was born in Kirkwood, Mo. He studied at the University of New Mexico and Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design. He worked for many years as a successful illustrator. Haynes is also a muralist, with public works on view at the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. Bryan Haynes lives in St. Albans, Mo., outside of St. Louis.
The Missouri State Museum, which is part of the Missouri state’s park system, is located on the first floor of the Missouri State Capitol. The Rozier Gallery is located at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site, 101 Jefferson Street, two blocks from the Capitol. For more information, contact the museum at 573-751-2854.
